Former Employee Accused of Stealing Personal Information

Paige Thompson Arrested and Faces Charges

Amazon has been hit with a massive 8866m €636m fine by the European Union (EU) for allegedly violating data protection laws. The fine stems from allegations that a former Amazon employee, 33-year-old Paige Thompson stole the personal information of approximately 100 million European customers.

Thompson, a Seattle resident was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. She is accused of accessing and downloading massive amounts of data without authorization, including customer names, email addresses, and other sensitive information.

The EU's fine against Amazon is the largest ever imposed for a data privacy violation. The bloc has been cracking down on tech companies in recent years, seeking to protect the personal information of its citizens and enhance data protection measures.

Amazon has denied any wrongdoing and has said it will appeal the fine. The company has also stated that it has implemented robust security measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.

The investigation into the data breach is ongoing, and further charges may be filed. The incident highlights the importance of data protection and the need for companies to take appropriate measures to safeguard sensitive customer information.
