Italy 2-1 Albania: Azzurri recover from early setback to win Euro 2024 opener

Italy began their defence of the European Championship with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Albania in their Group B opener on Sunday evening.

The Azzurri fell behind to the quickest goal in men's European Championship history when Nedim Bajrami fired Albania ahead after just 23 seconds.

However, Roberto Mancini's side showed their resilience to hit back and level through Ciro Immobile just before half-time.

Nicolo Barella then scored the winner for Italy in the second half to secure a vital three points.
